ALT #1 — OFF THE BEATEN PATH: Life Through A Lens
If you haven’t been yet to see Storied Strings exhibit at VMFA, I hear it is fantastic (get it?). I have yet to go and my/your window is rapidly closing (the exhibit ends March 19!), but I will get there.
Dave Cantor at VPM Media had an article last week with a look back at the career of Gordon Parks, who was one of the first black directors to make a studio film in Hollywood in 1969 and most notably directed “Shaft” which was hugely popular after being released in 1971. His film “Leadbelly” about the legendary folksinger and 12-string guitar master Huddie Ledbetter, was screened last weekend at VMFA as a companion to the Strings exhibit.
