STORY #1 — Thank You, Veterans
Today is Veterans Day and a good day to pause for a moment and reflect and thank and be thankful for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. They fought so I can write what want to write, so you can say what you want to say, and we can live where we want and do what we want (within reason).
The Virginia War Memorial sits just on the edge of Oregon Hill and honors the more than 12,000 Virginians who have fallen since the outbreak of World War II. It is a beautiful, serene monument and museum with one of the best views of Downtown Richmond. The open pavilion combines mid-century modernity with the timeless style of a Greek temple and is looked after by “Memory,” a 22-foot-tall statue of a woman in grief with an eternal flame at her feet.
Today they hosted a soggy Veterans Day Ceremony but they are more than a memorial event to honor the fallen. They also host online forums…
