City Audit Committee meetings usually run under the radar and thankfully reporters tend to go because if a tree or a bear are in the woods….(you know the rest).
The Audit Committee last week revealed that the City was sloppy and lacked accountability with a chunk of the allocation of almost $38 million of total federal emergency aid (CARES Act) money at the onset of the COVID pandemic. Apparently the Mayor and Council use contracted nonprofits and organizations to manage the award of gift cards to aid recipients.
