If you have never heard about Richmond’s poet laureate, it’s because there has only been one and it’s recent. Douglas Powell, 36, who pens under the name Roscoe Burnems, is the first poet laureate of Richmond that was selected in Spring 2021 and is in the closing months of a two-year stint.
