ALT #1 - OFF THE BEATEN PATH: RVA Pieces: Checkmate
People a lot smarter than me have formed the RVA Pieces: The Richmond Chess Club and it is getting noticed, and apparently they are so good they know how to concentrate on a very complex game with the best of them.
Don’t believe me? They host meetings at places like GWARbar in Jackson Ward and Slingshot Social Game Club in Scott’s Addition. They also meet where you might expect — Abner Clay Park and Monroe Park and the Main Richmond Library downtown. They encourage children of any age (as well as parents) to join them for help and instruction if they are intrigued by the game.
